I lied

Okay, I lied, but not on purpose. I did mean to go to the library. Probably meant to go that day even. So what happened? Do you even have to ask? Life, my friends. Nothing bad. Nothing heart stopping. Just run of the mill crap that keeps you from getting to the library and checking out books that you should read if you want a Ph.D in English Lit.

I just got the list out of material and cringed. It's a loooooong list. Procrastinating is really gonna hurt me here.

I think I need a plan!

Going to the library

Having received a Master's in English Literature it's only natural that I would be foolish enough to consider going after my Ph.D. Reading and discussing what I read is right at the top of my list of things I like to do (which is why I'm in two book clubs). I even enjoy writing the papers because, after reading, writing is my favorite thing. Hmm, not true, eating would beat out both of those, but seems unimportant in the case of this blog. I digress. Here's the problem with getting a Ph. D. It ain't cheap. That's problem one. Then there's this weird requirement of having to be able to read two other languages. Well, comment-allez vous, that just isn't happening in this stage in my life. And finally, you actually have to apply to a program and get accepted, and guess what? Not every university you happen to live by offers Ph.D's--did you know that? What's a busy mom to do? Move? Not likely. But it occurred to me that what I really wanted to do was read and understand the books that would be part of a Ph.D program. So that's my plan. I'll read. I'll blog. And you, if there's any yous out there, can tell me what you think. So I'm off to the library to get my first books for this process. Wish me luck!!
